Google Search Console Coverage

Definition

Coverage is Search Console reporting about which URLs are indexed, not indexed, redirected, blocked, or affected by indexing issues.

Why It Exists

It helps diagnose why pages are or are not eligible to appear in Google Search.

How It Fits Into The System

Coverage connects crawling, indexing, redirects, robots rules, canonical decisions, and sitemap discovery.

Important Details

Labels like Discovered, Crawled, or Currently not indexed are diagnostic states. They do not always mean a technical error exists.

Example

A new /projects/weathr page might be discovered through the sitemap, crawled later, and indexed only after Google decides it is worth including.
